About UCEK

University College of Engineering Kakinada, a premier institution under JNTU Kakinada, was originally established in 1946 as College of Engineering, Vizagpatnam. Spread across a lush 110-acre campus in the port city of Kakinada, the college has a rich legacy of academic excellence and cultural heritage.

It became a constituent college of JNTU Hyderabad in 1972, attained autonomous status in 2001, and joined JNTU Kakinada as a constituent college in 2008. Governed by university guidelines, the institution is led by the Principal, supported by the Vice-Principal, and administrative staff, and monitored/directed by College Academic Committee.

The college offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MBA, and Ph.D. programs across a wide range of disciplines, including Civil, EEE, Mechanical, ECE, CSE, Petrochemical, and Petroleum Engineering. Admissions are based on national and state-level entrance exams like EAMCET, ECET, GATE, PGECET, and ICET.

Being recognized for its excellence, the college has been funded under TEQIP, with high national rankings for fund utilization. All departments are NBA-accredited, and the institution is recognized as an 'A' grade college by TCS, as well as a Trusted Academic Partner by Wipro. Leading companies like Infosys, Capgemini, L&T, and Honeywell recruit future engineers from the campus every year. Our students are referred to as having the "best intellectual potential" in the annual reports of the visiting companies.

The college fosters a strong research culture, supported by modern equipment and sponsored projects from ISRO, CSIR, BHEL, and others. It also maintains collaborations through seminars, conferences, and consultancy services.

Facilities include a fully automated Central Library with over 75,000 volumes and 300+ journals, departmental libraries, a book bank for BC/SC/ST students, a near-complete sports complex, and on-campus medical dispensary.

Celebrating milestones such as the Silver Jubilee (1971), Golden Jubilee (1995–96), and Diamond Jubilee (2005–06), the college continues to thrive with strong alumni support, vibrant student clubs, NCC, NSS units, and professional bodies like IEEE and CSI.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK)

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) was established in 2008 under Act No. 30 of 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It emerged as an autonomous entity from the erstwhile JNTU Hyderabad, following the trifurcation of the university. Its roots trace back to the College of Engineering, Vizagapatnam, founded in 1946, making it one of the oldest engineering institutions in South India.

JNTUK has formulated a comprehensive and progressive two-decade strategic plan, in tune with its Vision and Mission, to become a leading teaching-cum-research Institute through a standard system of education, with more emphasis on fundamentals, after an exhaustive self-examination by all its stakeholders, including external experts from HEIs. Smooth functioning of any institution depends on the resolutions and minutes discussed in respective bodies/ cells/ committees. The University has constituted different cells and committees for the successful implementation of the resolutions. JNTUK provides welfare measures for the benefit of the faculty and the supporting staff. The IQAC directorate along with the Directorate of Academic Planning within the University monitors and reviews the Teaching-Learning process regularly.
